▶ Article Summary
Hacking organizations backed by North Korea are sophisticatedly advancing their cyberattack methods, including psychological warfare on SNS and disguised employment using AI. The North Korea-linked group ‘APT37’ employed a "pretexting" tactic, building rapport on Facebook and then distributing malware through the installation of fake PDF viewers. The security industry has urged caution against social engineering attacks that exploit user trust rather than technical vulnerabilities. Additionally, cases have been detected where North Korean IT personnel used AI tools to create synthetic identities and fake resumes to gain employment at global companies. These activities have been ongoing since 2012 and have recently scaled to an industrialized level with systematic hiring workflows. Furthermore, generative AI tools were used to write persuasive job applications and communicate with employers. A security industry official emphasized, “These threats transcend simple IT security issues. Organizations that unknowingly hire North Korea-linked workers face serious risks of legal liability, including violations of international sanctions frameworks.” [2026.4.13. “Wealth created by a lying tongue is a vanishing mist and a deadly snare.” (Proverbs 21:6)
Lord, North Korean hacking organizations and IT personnel are conducting cyberattacks and earning foreign currency through advanced methods such as SNS psychological warfare and AI-based disguised employment. We pray that our citizens, companies, and government remain awake and vigilant against North Korea’s increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks and psychological warfare. Help us to clearly see the reality of ‘social engineering’ attacks that exploit human trust and enable us to respond appropriately. May the deceptions of the wicked be neutralized so that our national security and precious information assets are protected.
May all illegal attempts by North Korea to earn foreign currency and bypass international sanctions—using AI technology and synthetic identities to gain disguised employment—be blocked. We pray for the swift arrival of the day of Gospel Unification, when North Korea’s highly skilled technical personnel can be used not for destructive acts, but for saving lives and promoting peace.

▶ Article Summary
The 23rd North Korea Freedom Week will be held in Washington D.C. from April 26 to May 2 under the theme “Truth Leads to Freedom.” This year’s event focuses on highlighting the changing perceptions of North Korean residents, reviving the North Korean human rights issue on the international agenda through the testimonies and activities of defectors, and emphasizing the need for concrete responses to promote the inflow of information and human rights. Starting with a Sunday service at Burke Pilgrim Church in Virginia on April 26, an Esther Prayer Meeting will be held at the Lincoln Memorial on April 28—the “Day of Prayer and Fasting for North Korean Freedom”—alongside an online prayer meeting with global participation. Major policy schedules in the U.S. Congress will follow, including hearings on "Challenges and Prospects for North Korean Human Rights," international forums, and congressional roundtables. A delegation of 11 South Korean defector representatives will attend to testify directly on the reality of North Korea and visit the Chinese Embassy to urge a resolution to the forced repatriation issue. Chairwoman Suzanne Scholte emphasized that it is now time for practical action, not just words, for the freedom and dignity of the North Korean people. [2026.4.19. Christian Today / View Article]

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” (Proverbs 31:8)
Lord, as the 23rd North Korea Freedom Week is held in Washington D.C., informing the world of the changing awareness of North Koreans and calling for international responses and practical actions for the restoration of human rights, we pray that the horrific reality of human rights in North Korea will be clearly revealed to the international community. Just like the theme “Truth Leads to Freedom,” may the light of truth shine into the closed land of North Korea, and through the inflow of information, may the North Korean people harbor the hope of freedom and lead the change themselves.
On the “Day of Prayer and Fasting for North Korean Freedom” on April 28, please hear the petitions offered with one heart by believers around the world, and let the powers of darkness covering North Korea be broken. May a powerful global spiritual solidarity arise through these prayer meetings, and may policy discussions, such as the U.S. Congressional hearings and forums, lead to practical fruits in improving human rights and stopping forced repatriations.
Protect the health and safety of the 11 defector representatives who have come forward to testify, and may the truth proclaimed through their lips be a tool that moves the hearts of policymakers and global citizens. Let the Korean churches and believers listen to their cries and participate in prayer, and let South Korea take the lead in restoring the freedom and dignity of our North Korean brothers and sisters.

▶ Article Summary
The National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK) unanimously resolved to issue an ‘expression of opinion’ that the government should make diplomatic efforts to ensure the entry of North Korean prisoners of war (POWs) detained in Ukraine into South Korea and to prevent their forced repatriation. Although it was originally discussed as a ‘recommendation,’ it was concluded at a lower level of ‘expression of opinion’ considering diplomatic repercussions. The NHRCK emphasized respecting the free will of the North Korean POWs to prevent forced repatriation, pursuing diplomatic efforts for safe entry, and providing humanitarian aid through consultations with the Ukrainian government. This agenda was joint-proposed by non-standing commissioners Lee Han-byeol, Han Seok-hoon, and Kang Jeong-hye. During the session, Kim Young-mi, a PD specializing in international conflicts, appeared as a witness and stated, “The intention of the two POWs to come to South Korea is clear,” and “They directly appealed that their lives would not be guaranteed if they were repatriated to North Korea.” North Korean human rights groups attended with placards reading “Repatriation is a death sentence” and “Government must take the lead in repatriating North Korean POWs.” [2026.4.13. “Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.” (Proverbs 24:11)
Lord, the NHRCK has expressed its opinion urging the government to make diplomatic efforts to prevent the forced repatriation of North Korean POWs detained in Ukraine and to ensure their safe entry into South Korea. We pray that these POWs will not face the desperate situation of forced repatriation, and that a path will be opened for them to safely enter South Korea, the embrace of freedom they long for. May our government wisely cooperate with the international community and relevant countries to swiftly take humanitarian measures to save their lives.
Have mercy on the cries of the prisoners who are desperately pleading to come to South Korea amidst the fear that repatriation equals a death sentence. May their lives and health be safely protected. Let this decision by the NHRCK not end as a mere expression of opinion but lead to practical rescue operations and diplomatic achievements. May South Korea become a nation that values a single soul more than the world, moving beyond political interests.
May the movement to rescue these two North Korean POWs be sublimated into a national movement to rescue 26 million North Koreans, so that countless souls living under the oppressive regime of North Korea may see the light of true freedom.
