Ahead of Kim Il-sung's birthday, the General Political Bureau of the North Korean People's Army produced a recorded lecture praising Kim Jong Un and distributed it to military units across the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The lecture emphasizes that the heroic Korean People's Army and the greatest country in the world exist because of Kim Jong Un. It is structured in four sections: “Building a Military Power,” “Love for Humanity,” “Embodiment of Justice,” and “The Father the World Reveres.” According to sources, “The sections ‘Embodiment of Justice’ and ‘The Father the World Reveres’ talk about Kim Jong Un’s strategies and courage in crushing imperialist pressures and isolationist schemes, with the world praising him for it.” The sources added, “Since the claims cannot be verified at all, they felt more exaggerated than moving.” The General Political Bureau typically produces 7-8 recorded lectures for the military annually, with 4-5 focused on praising Kim Jong Un and 2-3 revealing internal misconduct and violations within the military. A unique part of this lecture was about Kim Jong Un’s 2023 visit to Russia, where Putin supposedly spread out a military map and sought advice from him. “Kim Jong Un solved a difficult problem instantly, and as a result, Putin was able to reverse the dire situation on the battlefield,” the sources reported. They added, “The lecture also mentioned that the U.S. is constantly monitoring North Korea and can’t conduct war drills freely in Northeast Asia or on the global stage.”

“I am the Lord, that is My name; My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images” (Isaiah 42:8)
2) Kim Jong Un’s “Palace-like” 53-Story Apartment in Pyongyang Faces Collapse After 10 Years
▶ ▶ Article Summary
The 53-story apartment in Pyongyang, which Kim Jong Un once praised as a “palace-like residence,” is now at risk of collapsing after just 10 years. The apartment, completed in 2015 in the Pyeongcheon district’s Mirae Street, was a symbolic building representing the Mirae(=Future) Science Street. According to recent reports from Radio Free Asia, cracks have appeared all over the building’s exterior, and residents are worried as cement plaster and tiles are falling off. Some residents are recalling the 23-story apartment collapse in Pyongyang in 2014, which has made them even more anxious. While some residents have filed complaints with the authorities, no significant response has been reported. Mirae Science Street was the first major housing district developed in central Pyongyang after Kim Jong Un assumed power, and North Korea has touted it as a “top-level housing complex.” Kim Jong Un personally named the district, especially praising the symbolic tower built at the top of the 53-story building and its satellite-like shape. Sources say, “Pyongyang is currently focusing on constructing 50,000 housing units, so there seems to be no capacity to address problems with already completed buildings.” Experts cite the rushed construction as the main cause of this issue. The apartment was reportedly completed in just 9 months with military units, rather than professional construction companies, handling the work.

“They set up kings, but not by Me; they made princes, but I did not know them. With their silver and gold they made idols for themselves, that they might be cut off.” (Hosea 8:4)

▶ ▶ Article Summary
The U.S. State Department has confirmed that the position of North Korean Human Rights Envoy has become vacant again following the launch of the second term of the Trump administration, which has been making extensive restructuring efforts in democracy and human rights organizations. Julie Turner, who was appointed as North Korean Human Rights Envoy after Senate confirmation in October 2023, stepped down from the position in January 2025 after the Trump administration took office. She is currently serving as the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL). The Trump administration has been working on reducing or eliminating various special envoy positions within the government, and the North Korean Human Rights Envoy is reportedly part of this restructuring. The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor is also expected to undergo significant downsizing. This downsizing is expected to directly and indirectly affect the activities of North Korean human rights organizations that have been supported by this department. This marks a clear shift from the human rights-centered foreign policy emphasized by the previous Biden administration, as the Trump administration has criticized this department as a "hotbed of progressive activism."
