1. North Korea Strongly Condemns the Submission of UN Human Rights Resolution "Political Ploy... Firmly Condemned"

North Korea recently expressed strong condemnation of the draft North Korean human rights resolution submitted to the United Nations Human Rights Council by the European Union (EU) and others. The North Korean delegation to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva condemned this resolution submission as a political maneuver that goes against the principle of non-interference in internal affairs stipulated in the UN Charter. The North Korean delegation stated that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will continue to uphold its sovereign rights and fulfill its responsibility to protect and promote the human rights of its people. Previously, Belgium, as the EU representative, submitted the draft resolution to the UN Human Rights Council on the 20th, and South Korea participated as a co-sponsoring country for the resolution both last year and this year. The draft resolution aims to comprehensively reassess North Korea's human rights situation, which has deteriorated since the release of the 2014 report by the Commission of Inquiry (COI) on Human Rights in North Korea.

○ It is said that North Korea's human rights violations and threats of weapons of mass destruction are inseparable. Please guide North Korea to abandon its policies on illegal weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons, and to move toward a path that respects freedom, human rights, and the welfare of its citizens.

○ May the international community, including South Korea, the United States, and others, restrain North Korea's provocations, strengthen international security, and establish strategic principles for negotiations on North Korea's denuclearization that promote respect for human rights and cooperation.

○ 
May China comply with the UN Convention against Torture to cease the forced repatriation of North Korean defectors. Let China, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, stop facilitating and tolerating North Korea's human rights abuses and act responsibly.

2. "North Korean Defectors: 'When Wealth Is Accumulated Through the Private Market, The Authority Strikes… But It Must Exist'"

On March 19th, in the Rayburn Building of the U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C., testimony sessions were held by North Korean defectors who had experienced capitalism to some extent through market activities or personal businesses in North Korea. They testified that once a certain amount of wealth was accumulated in the market, they faced the authorities' crackdown. Nevertheless, they emphasized that the markets, which serve as the foundation for 80% of North Koreans' livelihoods, must not disappear, stating that "the market is truly the asset of the people of North Korea, toiled over by sweat." One of the defectors, Bae Yoo-jin, who witnessed North Koreans dying during the "Arduous March" in the 1990s, dove into business, expanding from smuggling gold to selling Chinese products and Korean drama CDs. However, one day he received a label of "anti-socialist" and was expelled to the countryside. Similarly, Kim Hang-woon, a former factory worker from Yanggang Province, engaged in market activities after the suspension of food and necessities distribution during the Arduous March. Kim Ji-young, who came from a privileged background and succeeded in running a cold noodle restaurant and a pub after graduating from Kim Il Sung University, was arrested along with her mother, who was a manager, after being falsely accused of undermining the ruling regime.

○ According to recent reports, there is a price difference of about 100 times between the grain resale prices among privileged class members, including the party cadres, and ordinary residents in North Korea. May all residents open their eyes to the unequal duplicity of the North Korean dictatorship regime, which is obsessed only with maintaining its power, and may leaders and regimes be established in the North that fear God, respect the freedom and human rights of the residents, and do their best to resolve the livelihoods of the residents.

○ Lord, may the markets in North Korea be revitalized once again. Through this, may the residents solve their food shortages, improve their quality of life, and also move towards the path of the gospel unification of liberal democracy by experiencing a market economy and accessing information from the outside world.

3. "The Miracle Initiated by the Radio: The Turning Point for the Entire Family to Decide to Defect from North Korea - The Story of Joo Chan-yang"

"The entire family started listening to North Korean radio when I was about nine years old. My father brought a Chinese-made radio called Singbao. In North Korea, you can only listen to one radio channel, the Third Radio Channel of the Korean Central Broadcasting Station. But somehow, we managed to listen to external channels, and we heard a 'subtle' voice. At first, when we heard that, my parents were resentful, thinking, 'The people from the South are doing this to break us, who are united with one mind.' Even in school, missionaries and pastors were taught to be the worst. When my father heard about FEBC Far East Broadcasting Company on the radio and heard about Saul and Paul from the Bible during the sermons, he said to me, 'I hope you marry a pastor or a missionary later.' It was confusing to hear completely different stories at school and at home, but because I trusted my parents, I listened to the radio by placing a watchdog in the yard and covering myself with a blanket. The radio reception was the best in the early morning. Now, all five family members live in Seoul, South Korea. The beginning of this miracle was listening to the radio and changing our perception. Therefore, we now send many radios northward."

○ Lord, we thank You for allowing the entire family to hear testimony of how their perception changed as they listened to broadcasts from South Korea, including the preaching of Far East Broadcasting Company, through the radio, leading them all to come to South Korea. We thank You for leaving this path of hearing the Gospel in the tightly controlled land of North Korea, leading them to receive salvation and guiding them with hope to the land of freedom.

○ Lord, may the saints of the North Korean underground church gain strength and comfort from Your power through broadcasts such as Far East Broadcasting Company and other Gospel broadcasts aimed at North Korea, and may many souls prepared in advance come to believe in You and receive salvation.

○ May the winds of freedom rise even more significantly within North Korea through various channels, causing North Korean compatriots to realize the problems of the regime and desire liberal democracy.
